About the Image compressor

Large photos slow down websites, fill up phone storage and often get rejected by forms that have a file size limit. Compressing an image reduces its size while keeping it looking good, which makes it faster to upload, email and share. This free image compressor does the job directly in your browser.

Choose an image, set the quality with the slider and, if you want, enter a maximum width in pixels. Click Compress and the tool shows the size before and after, along with the percentage you saved. Then download the result. Lower quality gives a smaller file, so adjust the slider until you find the right balance. This is useful for job applications, government portals, online stores, blogs and school forms that ask for photos under a certain size such as 100 KB. Your pictures are never uploaded to a server, so your privacy is protected. The output is a JPG, and transparent areas of PNG files become white.

How to use

Choose an image, set the quality (lower quality means a smaller file), optionally set a maximum width and click Compress. Check the before and after size, then download the result.
